  Great Customer Service & Clean Units

  The new Public Storage Unit in McKinney was very clean (especially the indoor climate controlled ones) and the employees were very helpful. The only reason why this isn't a 5 star rating is due to the inability for the onsite employees to books a unit using the online discounted prices. I can easily just book it from my phone while I was there but sort of makes it inconvenient. If they don't change this policy, I recommend installing self-service iPads or kiosks so prospective customers can book online onsite.

  Just so you know

  Its a decent storage place, but its nit safe when the gate stays open because the sensors dont work in the rain

  Hidden storage cost

  Good experience signing up for a unit. Did not like the fact that I had to purchase a lock from public storage at almost $20.00. The clerk that helped me assured me either, Home Depot or Lowes had them for less. To my surprise, both stores did not have a clue about the lock or why Public storage even referred their stores. Other than this, my experience was ok.

  Recent Storage Rental

  I was excited to find this new facility opening so close to our home. I inquired and from then on -they wouldn't leave me alone. I was receiving sometimes two calls a day from the call center. I had made an appointment to come in and sign the rental agreement but had to change the date at the last minute. One week later. I mean, really. Up to 6-7 calls a week is beyond ridiculous. I arrived at my scheduled time, and the kid at the front desk was very nice. He fumbled around and didn't really seem to know what he was doing, but he was helpful overall. I was really impressed by the security and also the price -$1 for the first month - plus a $25 one time fee. Ok -so I assumed I would get out of there for $26 for the first month. NO.....I was REQUIRED to have monthly storage insurance which added to the monthly fee. All that "hidden" stuff they don't tell you about. And the lock I was required to buy was ridiculously priced. I spent $60 before I walked out the door. Good thing I only need to rent the space for two months. Overall -we are happy with the space, security and ease of access. Lay off the phone calls, train your associates better, and for goodness sake -please provide a large dumpster on the property for rental customers.
